Abide by the Law
Do not violate U.S. immigration laws, if you want to have no problems. Do not listen to advice from people who assure you that once you get a U.S. visa, you can stay in the country illegally and to fix your status through a lawyer, on the spot. Of course there are plenty of lawyers, but at least I do not know any illegal immigrants who have managed to “settle” their status on the spot. And be sure that you have a German Translation of all important documents with you. It is true that U.S. authorities will not prosecute you if you stay illegally after the deadline for leaving the U.S., but at your first contact with the authorities you will be immediately deported, without able even to get your personal luggage.
So, consider whether you want to get into this situation and to live this way!
